Google Play screenshot and graphic sizes

Read at Google's preview assets page on 29 October 2026.

  • Screenshots: JPEG or 24-bit PNG (no alpha). Shortest side at least 320 px, longest at most 3,840 px, and the long side no more than twice the short side. Up to 8 per device type; at least 2 across device types to publish.
  • Recommendations: For apps to appear in large-format recommendations: at least 4 screenshots of at least 1080 px, 9:16 portrait (1080 × 1920 or more) or 16:9 landscape (1920 × 1080 or more).
  • Feature graphic: JPEG or 24-bit PNG (no alpha), 1024 × 500 px. Required.
  • App icon: 32-bit PNG (alpha allowed), 512 × 512 px, at most 1,024 KB. Required.

What the checker does

It reads each file's pixel size and format from the file itself. A PNG saved with an alpha channel is flagged even if every pixel is opaque, because Apple refuses the channel, not just transparent pixels. Each file is matched to every App Store slot whose size it fits exactly, and checked against Google Play's rules. A file that fits no slot gets the nearest one by shape, with the change it needs.

Fixed copies are 24-bit PNGs with no alpha channel, at the exact size you pick. Download them one by one or all at once in a zip with a plain-text report.

Questions

What screenshot size does the App Store require in 2026?

Apple's page, read on 29 October 2026, requires at least one screenshot for iPhone with Dynamic Island (medium display): 1179 × 2556 or 1206 × 2622 pixels in portrait. iPad apps also need at least one 13-inch iPad screenshot: 2064 × 2752 or 2048 × 2732.

What is the iPhone Duo screenshot size?

Outer display 1398 × 2034 pixels, inner display 2007 × 2853 pixels, portrait; the landscape sizes swap them. Apple says they become required in April 2027 for apps built with the iOS 27.1 SDK or later.

Why does App Store Connect reject my PNG?

The most common cause is an alpha channel. Apple's page says: “Images can't include alpha channels or transparencies.” The checker flags PNGs saved with alpha and exports a flattened copy.

How many screenshots can I upload?

Up to 10 per device size on the App Store and up to 8 per device type on Google Play.

What size are Google Play screenshots?

Google asks for JPEG or 24-bit PNG between 320 and 3,840 pixels on each side, with the long side no more than twice the short one. For large-format recommendations it asks for 9:16 portrait at 1080 × 1920 or more, or 16:9 landscape at 1920 × 1080 or more.
